la comunidad indigena esta muy explotada en mexico

my friend came back from oaxca, not only did she bring me back some cute earrings but some beautiful stories to share too. oh the gift of conversation! makes me wonder what my experience will be like come march 2011, Lord willing. She said oaxaca is the poorest state in all of Mexico, thats a fact. But using an asset based community lens we want to focus on the beauty that exist in a culture rich part of Mexico. Another woman from the office chimes in, "la mujer oaxacquena no deja su hjio" said Monic. They begin to talk about the women in oaxaca who carry up to two kids on their backs while they sell trinkets and goods. Lots of kids sell things too. Just like immigrant communities here in the US, indigenous communities are very much exploited in Mexico, said Monic. But there are those that recognize these communities as the richest part of Mexican culture and country. Like Fab who just got back went to a wedding from a women who was in grad school and then fell in love with the culture. When she was in her Phd dissertation she abandoned it and completely fell in love. Monic also talked about her cousin who was at a university in Chicago and went to paint murals and pursue her artistry. So in my mind the motiff of the so called poorest of the poor, produces the greatest aristry gives me hope for my work as my creative flare expands.
