on trayvon martin...

a brown woman like me cannot ignore the national attention of another fallen victim to violence and brutality. people like zimmerman who murdered 17 year old trayvon are possessed by demons. demons that tell you to hate, or have prejudice, or act on misinformed beliefs towards other human beings. i went to the local march in seattle where thousands gathered. the presence of brown people meant one thing: this violence towards children, and men of color has to stop. it is not a speculation that there was racism involved..i listened to the 911 tape and most people believe zimmerman was intoxicated..but really the imbalance in his voice that their picking up is one of a demon. the spirit within us recognizes the imbalance of anothers. i'm not saying zimmerman is a demon or a devil ( i do not have the means to characterize any human with that) but i do believe he was possessed (there is a difference.) that he is walking free is an injustice. i'm deeply broken because i know 17 year olds and it could have been them. we have many trayvon's in our lives. let us take care of them, but also work towards liberation from the spirits that hold captive our minds and lead us to believe that humans beings should die based our uninformed assumptions, values, and hearts made of concretes.
